Thanks for doing that video . Do you wait for silicone to dry before marring the half’s together?
His bearings and seals are worth the price. I’ve purchased several sets over the few years. Nachi bearings from Japan. ALSO!!! RUN WASHING MACHINE CLEANER ON “SANITIZE” OR “CLEAN” SETTING BEFORE STARTING THE JOB. It will save you lots of cleaning once you break open the tub halves. Tide and Affresh brands are in your local grocery stores with the laundry detergent.
Hey watched your video, having trouble with my whirlpool, got everything taken apart and found rust on the shaft is this what you are talking about when you said they warranty the tub assembly here's my MOD wfw9050xw00. I'd appreciate any help
The pulley came loose on my new electrolux washer after a year. If I didn't catch it in time, the pulley would've fully eaten through the back of the drum housing. Never should've happened. I used blue threadlock just to be safe.
What is the name of that clips ?
Dielectric grease is silicone based - I found a huge tube of it online.
From who?
I have a seal different from yours. Mine is the same as the original, and when I tried to tap it down with a hammer (as you suggested), I damaged the bearing underneath. I don’t think this seal is supposed to go down as far as the one you installed, and it would have been great if you had mentioned that.
You were great!
Hi, I have ge front load washer and during spin there is a loud knocking noise and if you watch the drum it jumps up a little when it knocks. Any idea?
FAIR WARNING: **NEVER** use a petroleum-based lubricant with rubber seals/o-rings (lithium grease is a petroleum product). Or trust this guy and have your efforts wasted by having a seal leak in 2-3 years. Use 100% silicone. Your choice.
Adjustable wrenches are awful & are perfect for rounding nuts/busted knuckles. Just get yourself the right size box wrench or socket. Also never use the plastic tub for leverage. They can get more brittle than you'd imagine.
Well i just finished up mine, new bearings new seal, running test on basket clean cycle, so far success, no more leak....$80, lots of time, it's tedious, lots of stuff in there, but better than $800 for a new washer, GE it's 15 years old, inside still looks clean just stain where it was weeping for some time on the seal back area....finally started weeping more then i seen the water on the cellar floor, so far it's DRY. The video really made it doable. THANKs
Harbour Freight tools are the big problem, get some Knipex, that clip would be out in a flash
get some KNIPEX pliers wrenches...the old crescent adj is so uncomfortable to use
WHERE TO PURCHASE YOUR BEARINGS AND SEAL FOR A WHIRLPOOL DUET WASHER FOR MODEL WFW9250WW00? I LOOKED ON eBAY BUT TO MANY AND NO REFERENCE TO THE AFOREMENTIONED MODEL #. THANKS
Few things I'd like to add for someone doing this the first time, as I was: 1) Take the weights off while the drum is still in the machine. It's only 3 bolts holding each in, super easy to take out, and makes this a much easier 1 man job. 2) When taking the clips off which hold the drum halves together, I'm not a big fan of how he got them off. It will scrape some plastic off if you do it that way. The best way would be to have a tool which hooks into the holes on each side of the clip and spread them apart. If you don't have that, get an awl, and put it in one of the holes, and pry up. That will release the clip on one side and it should come off usually in one go. 3) After my drum casing came apart, the drum wouldn't come out. A wooden mallet banging on the axle a few times and it came out. Remember, your bearings failed for a reason, probably because the seal went bad, which means there's probably corrosion. Videos like this are great, but I have a hard time believing this is an actual home machine, look how clean it is! 4) I hoses and scrubbed off slime and scale from inside the drum. The stuff stinks, and will make your washer smell. 5) I cleaned up the surfaces where the bearings went with some scotchbrite (I believe called "emory cloth" in other parts of the world). They were corroded. 6) Finally dried every thing off ready for bearing installation. 7) If you have a 3d printer, I made an alignment tool which held the new bearing and old bearing in alignment. WORKED GREAT!! It was just a cylinder with a bit of a press fit inside the hub of the bearing. Finally, these bearings supplied are obviously really high quality. Since you have the machine apart, you might as well put better parts in.
I just finished up my GE washer new bearing and seal kit. 15 years old, clean inside, I always leave the door open, when done washing..so it doesn't get moldy. Scotchbrite I also used, Emery cloth is different, Emery is for polishing, very fine, Scotch brite comes in several textures, for cleaning heavy or fine stuff. cleaned out some rust in casing where bearings sit, wipe it down bearings went in, seal in, then put it all back together, lots of screws on the GE, not clips...my drum came right out, bearings where not corroded up at all, just some rust where pully is, outside from weeping..So far I'm back in business, no leaks... My GE had NSK bearing in it OEM...not not junk...same bearings as supplied here. Works great. $80 is better than $800 for a new washer. But it's tedious, so much stuff in there, and yes, I pulled weights off first so drum is lighter...I left the bottom drain hose on basket, disconnect at outlet hose connection instead..And the GE shock absorber are riding on push in plastic stud, release the little tab the pull out of the bottom mount..I left them on drum also, less chance of breaking them when you twist the off the rum mount. GE drum came apart easy, pulled right out of bearings but I see two hairline cracks in area where shaft mounts, in bearings, no leak, but its showing it age...Plastic is only forever in the ocean. Motor dismounted with one bolt and it just drops down, pulls off the other side, they streamlined that part for sure
Purchased my bearing kit today from you. Even though you're about double the price of ebay chinese knockoffs, it's well worth it to reward for using good bearings and an excellent instructional video like this!
For the retaining ring (spring clip), take some pliers and bent the tips of the removal tool so they are at least parallel to one another when first engaging into the clip. Even better if you bend them so the tips are slightly pointing in towards one another. This will make it so the clip will want to ride up towards the tool, rather than riding down those pins and slipping off.
Thank you for the video! A replacement tub is over $800! I checked my 2005 Frigidaire model number, the tag says Elecrolux Home Products! It's the GLTF2940ES0 Never had a repair since new, but now making a thump, thump, thump shake on spin cycle.
Thank you for the great explanation and how to install this seal. Most videos I have seen only briefly show how to install the seal (some show it flush and others show it just being pushed in with thumbs). I installed mine just like you did. Thanks!!
Very well explained and demonstrated. Easy to listen to as well. Well done!
We actually call it snap ring pliers and call them circlips or snap rings. In my area anyway
Great video! Thanks. I noticed several unanswered questions in the comments.
TONS OF HELP!
very nice but no links for bearings!
Little confused as to why there's a retaining ring during installation but not during removal?
I put back the retaining clip, it holds the bearing in place, if it's there reinstall it
Well I made it to the end James. We bought your bearings off Amazon for our Whirlpool Duet and got them installed with your help. The washer spin cycle is as quiet as a church mouse now, thank you. Changing the bearings out is by far the easy part, getting the drum out on the floor ready to work on like in video #1 is an entire new video series. :-) A lot of work but well worth the effort, we hope to get many, many more years from our washer now. Thank you very much.
I have a whirlpool Alpha front loader and we removed those clips but it’s stuck. Could it be also glued together ?
FYI, someone suggested greasing the shaft before installing it in the housing. You don't want the shaft rotating inside the ball bearing race, you want the bearing to turn. I have had many worn out hvac shafts due to it rotating inside the bearing when the locking collar came loose, and these don't even have locking collars! I was going to suggest a bit of loctite on the shaft where the bearing race rides to prevent that. Thanks
BJ, can you give us advice on replacing the spider? Hard to figure out the part numbers and where to buy them.
could not ask for a better video. your simple right to the point ways made my job simple everything right on point. simply follow these instructions install new shocks and have yourself a new washer
Good video
Wet I can order the. Bearings
Very informative video. If you don't understand how to do the job after watching this video, you need to hire a professional.
Excellent video. Between (mostly) this one and a few others (referencing my exact model), I was able to fix my Samsung WF42H5200AW with the part kit from FrontLoadBearings.com. It took a long time to disassemble the machine and it was stressful to insert the new bearings, but this video gave me the confidence to get it done. Washer works better than new, literally. Wife, son, and family are quite impressed. I feel like superman. Tips: - Watch this video all the way through several times days before you start. On go day, watch each step individually and then go do it. - Give yourself time. It took me 3 days. You almost take apart the entire machine. The bearing replacement takes like 30 minutes. That's the easy part. - There are a lot of parts and hardware. Keep it organized. Give yourself space. - 2 inch Styrofoam blocks for lowering the drum assembly onto off the springs. - Milk crate works great in place of the bucket. It was more stable.
Still spot on! Thank you, save me a ton of money.
Sping clip is the hell time 🤣🤣
I would just replace the basket. This is to much work
Taking the basket out is no picnic. Might as well save 500$ if it’s out and replace the bearings
@@mbush8180 Yeah, you're 95% of the way there once you get the basket out anyway.
Do u have the bearings for a whirlpool duet Model wfw9150ww01 or what’s the part number for that Washer so I can buy it
Dang. The metal bracket that spreads out to the drum in three areas was the culprit to my problem. No replacements. The drum "assembly" is $600 and up. No thanks! Time for a new washer. Thanks frontloadbearings for an awesome tutorial on replacing the bearings..

Success! Took me longer than I thought, but worked out great. My Whirlpool Duet washer whirls again, quietly. I recommend taking lots of pictures for reference on reassembly. Thanks British James! Your service saved me hundred of dollars.
Sweet! I saw your other comment and noticed it was recent, so was tempted to ask you how you made out. I'll be trying this myself in another week or so.
A great video. Very detailed. Probably saved me a lot of aggravation compared to trying this without the video. Wish me luck!
It helps a lot especially to follow the instructions,of how to handle the machine for use
What you refer to as spring clips are really called "retaining rings". Love the videos.
English terminology.
cir clips
Or snap rings
@@jayhocke7477 Or "jesus clips"...cus' when they go flying across the room ya go, Jesu Ch,,,,,
I see that this video was posted 5 years ago and doubt if anyone could answer a question, but just in case... I bought a front loader (Whirlpool Duet WFW9400SW01) and found that not only was the belt broken, but the bearing(s) exploded. I found the bearing replacement kit online quickly enough but wonder if I need to tear this beast all the way down like you guys did if I could only replace the rear bearing without removing the drum from the machine? An extra problem is that half of the old bearing (outer race) is still in the machine as well so I'd need a clever way to remove that too. Thanks!
I would lubricate the basket shaft with “extreme pressure grease”prior to setting it inside the rear half of the tub.
Hi there, you mentioned that whirlpool has a limited lifetime warranty on corroded spider bracket and tubs, but i did call them to ask. the guy said only one year from the time of purchase. mine is a duet and got it 2011. how do i go about this?
Are you in the UK? If so, how do the spiders on Electrolux hold up over there?
I’m in the same boat as the other commenters. My basket isn’t pulling out. Maybe it’s related to the fact I can see the ball bearings and mangled pieces of metal between the ball bearings? But not sure how that’s making the shaft wedged in though.
